I am super excited about our journey in the Living letters. I truly pray it will be a life-altering spiritual transformation within you. Thank you for subscribing to the blog, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have the privilege of imparting into your life. Simultaneously, I am also humbled by the opportunity to speak about the Hebrew letters. As emanations of God, I am well aware of the reverence and humility involved in the amazing Living letters.
As we discuss each one, please understand there is a lot more revelation and mysteries already discovered and also hidden for discovery. The treasure chest of the letters are endless. When we deal with a God that is infinite and past finding out, we will for eternity only scratch the surface of what we can still discover of the Living letters. Let’s dive in.
If you haven’t read the intro to the Hebrew letters, please do so first by clicking in the ‘recent posts’ to your right or at the bottom of the blog, depending on your device.
I consider Aleph the chief of the Hebrew letters, because of what it stands for and who it represents.
We know Aleph as the silent one, and everything finds its source in stillness and silence. Think of the scripture in
Psalm 46:10 NIV
He says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Aleph represents GOD, and as the silent One, is not just about pronunciation, but there is no sound or word able to describe the infinite scope of something with no boundaries. It carries being infinite and all unity finds its expression in and through Alephא. It brings all of creation into unity with God.
Ancient Jewish writings noted that Moses, writing the Torah, would inscribe the Aleph in half size. He felt inadequate to write a full size Aleph, which represents God. I can resonate, and I hope the same reverence and fear stirs within your spirit as we engage Aleph.
Leviticus 1:1 LHI
וַיִּקְרָ֖א אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֵלָ֔יו מֵאֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵ֖ד לֵאמֹֽר׃
In the book by Rabbi Jonathan Rietti, he pointed out an interesting phenomenon with the Aleph in Lev 1:1.
Although it does not appear in your standard scholar Hebrew Bible, but in Jewish Hebrew bibles the Alephs appear half size as to the rest of the text in the bibles. An indication by a rearrangement of the letters, there are hidden within mysteries and a richer meaning than meets the eye.
The Aleph carries the strongest representation of God and its oneness or unification.
Zechariah 14:9 NKJV
And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be “The Lord is one,” And His name one.
Deuteronomy 6:4 NIV
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Deut 6:4 are the first verses taught to Jewish Children
There are four basic meanings of Aleph.
Master – Champion
God is creator and master of the universe. He sees & hears all. He’s the one in possession of the ultimate power. The master power of the universe, beyond comprehension.
Showing us His Word and the Torah, and ultimately Jesus, who is the WORD.
Family, ox, bull, friend
The Mystical dimension of His Word. It is the esoteric part of Aleph. The universe’s, realms and dimensions hidden within א engages us to the Mystical aspect of Yahweh. Esoteric means – that which is understood or meant for only a select few to have special knowledge or interest.
That is the wondrous aspect of א. It is the doorway and the key to the hiddenness of YHVH.
When you spell Aleph backwards (פלא) it means: Wondrous, Amazing, Miraculous. It is as if to show, engaging Aleph from fresh angles, can reveal mysteries and secrets of the Wonders of Yahweh.
Spelling & Gematria of ALEPHא
The numerical value or the Gematria of א is 1, 1000 and 26. I explain further the 26 later on.
One, as in the first letter in the Alephbet, and also the ultimate one in power. 1000, as in the ultimate multiplicity – nothing exists without Him, and no number can be ascribed to it, א is infinite. 1000 is the cognate meaning of א.
Just like one ray of light shines through a prism and creates the colors of the spectrum – it came from ONE source and has its foundation in ONE, so is א
Let’s take a closer observation to the construction of א
The formation of Aleph is made up of the YUD VAV YUD, a YUD on each side and a VAV lying diagonally. The VAV is like a ladder extending between heaven and earth. The idea of God giving substance to man from nothing. Through Jesus we move from an emptiness to a substance in the presence of YHVH.
The construction reveals the mystery of Ascension, as within א man is positioned to engage the secrets from above and the mysteries down below, we are the Ascension ladder that God united Himself with man. We are positioned to engage the unsearchable, to make it searchable.
Where a God that’s unsearchable has, through א, position Himself to be discoverable, at least to some measure within the constriction. Yahweh made you the ladder, so through א, the wondrous manifestations of who and what He is can find its expression in and through you. The bottom YUD can also represent the Word became flesh and dwelt among men, the bowing down and the humility of the greatness of YHVH.
It signifies the unity between God and man with the YUD as the Lion and His word, and the VAV representing mans faith in Christ, and the DNA substance of YHVH connecting the two. Revelation is bountiful in the construction of א, when engaged, can completely unravel even the most discerning & mature, who and what you are in Him, and who He is in you.
The YOD Gematria = 10 x 2 (YOD) = 20
VAV = 6
The sum of them all is 26
The tetragrammaton of YHVH also = 26. YOD 10 HEY 5 VAV 6 HEY 5 = 26
Through the Gematria, the similarity of the ALEPH & YHVH, 26 represents God’s ineffable name. Just an interesting note, 2+6 = 8. 8 = Chet ח, which also represents wisdom, and wisdom was of God’s first creation.
ALEPH is spelt with an Aleph(א(1 + lamed(ל(30 + Pey(80)פ. The numerical values are the numbers behind each letter. By just combining the first 2 letters, which forms the foundation of the name, (Alephא + Lamedל) means POWER.
When we combine the complete Gematria of 80+30+1 = 111
Expresses the power of His oneness and unity
Another word that equals the numerical value of 111, is the Hebrew word for ‘Veil’. The countenance of Moses radiated with the glory of the Lord. A Veil was put over his face so people could look at him. We know in the New Testament, through Jesus Christ, we have unveiled faces, meaning through א, the mysteries and secrets hidden are now unveiled to and in man. א is the revelator.
Another way of looking at the construction:
The VAV connecting the 2 YUDS, connects us to the 2 worlds embracing Gods fullness. The bottom YUD is the earthly dimension, the top YUD is the heavenly dimension, the Vav can also represent Jesus, when the Word became flesh, connecting the 2 worlds for engagement.
Alephs first appearance in the bible
The first word in the bible that begins with ALEPH is: ELOHIM אליהמ
Aleph points God out as the omnipotent one
The first letter in the 10 commandments is Aleph: “I Am”
It signifies the foundation of Aleph also represents beginnings – and the Living letters that follow, teach us what relationship with YHVH is.
Some other important words that start with א:
Love, Faith, LION, Ark, Man, Earth, Emanation to name a few.
א as the gate and key, will unlock the power & oneness of YHVH. A Gate of ascension engaging secrets and mysteries of an exceptional God, who didn’t think it robbery to become like man, so we may become like Him. Aleph is like a conductor, traversing our DNA to transfer what’s above to below, so that what’s below, may be one with what’s above.
