Revelation 21:12 NIV
It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Genesis 3:24 NIV

Colossians 1:16 NIV
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Psalm 91:11 NIV
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
Both in the Hebrew language and Greek, the word ‘angel’ means Messenger. And a messenger is someone who delivers a message, so in other words they are the link between two parties. Now you might ask why do I need to hear or communicate with my angel if I can simply ask the Holy Spirit to tell me? It’s all about understanding the structures of the spirit realm and their functions, it is the way God designed it.
If angels are messengers, it would simply mean they have a message or a function to deliver. I wanted to focus on the gates in this blog but I had many requests of people still not grasping or understanding how to connect and communicate with your Guardian Angel.
I am going to try and be a bit more detailed and step orientated so that we can unlock your ability to communicate with your angel and to hear what he has to deliver. Then we’ll move over to gates.
“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.
When we look at the above scripture it is unquestionable that angels play a crucial part in helping us reach our destinies, whether they are short-term, medium or long-term, they help us to fulfil scrolls and mandates.
Now the following I find fascinating: The Hebrew for ‘pay attention’ literally means to securely position his face before you. How awesome is that. It is so intentional and the emphasis is on experiencing what the Angel must deliver.
1 Corinthians 13:1
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
Now if we consider the following scripture, the fact that there are tongues of angels, so in other words angelic language and communication, there’s no doubt that communication between the angelic realm and man, as in a spoken communication and interaction between two beings. It is important to note when we are communicating or interacting with the angelic realm, we are not praying to them. Prayer is always directed to Jesus Christ, but we can communicate with angels to assist and facilitate our prayer life. Once again it’s about engaging their mandates.
- How do I hear my angel’s voice?
The first place to start is to practice awareness. Acknowledge their presence. ‘Thank you angel for protecting and guarding me today, I appreciate you, and I appreciate you helping me fulfil my kingdom mandate.’ Express thankfulness for their presence and what they do for you.
It’s OK to undergo an overemphasis on the Angelic realm, remember we attempting to restore an ancient pathway, once that pathway is established, the Pendulum will move back to the middle again
- Give them tasks.
Just remember you can’t give tasks to Angels when it is not their mandate, like, for instance, the four living creatures, they have not been tasked to protect you. So let’s just focus on your Guardian Angel. I generally give my angel a task when I prayed into a situation or circumstance first, Then I would do the activation. I would for instance tell my guardian angel to speak to everybody else guardian angel coming to church that specific morning, to facilitate their mandate and encounter specific for them, because I’m the pastor, and he knows the mandate for that service. When I feel vulnerable, whatever the situation may be, I call on my angel for heightened protection. When I feel spiritually exhausted or even emotionally, I ask my angel to lift me up and carry me on his wings. I would at times also ask my angel simply to minister to me, they did to Jesus when he was tempted by Satan. I’m trying to settle in your spirit that all you are doing is engaging the spiritual resources that your Father has made available to you to experience the fullness as a son of God. You are not betraying God, you are using what He made available to you with wisdom.
- Be attentive to any response coming from your angel.
Remember the scripture in Exodus 23, so use your imagination to picture your angel in front of you, because when you use your imagination, you are focusing your spirit into a specific direction. Stare at his face and wait for a response. Angels respond in many ways. For instance, I have learnt that when I start getting a ringing sensation in my ears, that there is heightened angelic activity around me. Angels love to use sensations in your body, they can use signs and signals as well.
Learn to ask, because by asking we are activating a response. One way how I experience my angel communicating to me is through an impression I feel in my spirit, intuition and a sensing.
Learning to connect with your angel is a journey, there are only guidelines to help, no formulas. What you are busy doing is engaging a process of fine-tuning yourself to be aligned with whatever your angel is saying or releasing. You are busy training and exercising muscles in the spirit that you’ve never used before. During the process your discernment will grow and mature, simply keep practising. Don’t be scared of mistakes, it means you are seeking and learning. Always remember, the angels will never do anything contrary to God’s word.
Angels and Gateways
I want to focus for a moment on gateways and the importance of the angelic realm at the gates. I recently gave a teaching at the church about the sons of God which are the gateways of Zion. I’m not going to go into detail regarding that but it’s important for you to know that you control your spiritual atmosphere. You are a gateway to control what comes in and goes out. An example of angels at gateways, we remember the story of Adam and Eve being banished from the Garden of Eden. After they were told to leave, God put an angel with a flaming sword guarding access to the garden, he was guarding a gateway.
God destined for man to be the gateways to the portals of the heavens, that through the door, Jesus, we as the sons of God, are the gatekeepers to the Heavenly realms.
Let’s take a look at the following scripture.
It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.Revelation 21:12
The above scripture, speaking of Zion, mentions that at each of the 12 gates there are angels positioned. The gates are named after the 12 tribes of Jacob, which means man (the VAVו) is the gate. At the gate is an angel that facilitates whatever man regulates to come in or go out. You are in control of your spiritual environment and there is an angel at the gate to facilitate whatever you need done. I, much refer to angels as partners rather than servants.
Everything in the spirit realm has a gate, an exit and entry point. Your workplace has a spiritual gate, a meeting has a gate. Appointments have gates, your family and people have gates. Morning and evening have gates, your soul, your mind will and emotions have gates. We can go on forever with examples regarding gates, but know that wherever there’s movement in the spirit realm, there are gates, we are the Guardians of those gates. With the help of the angels, you can structure your spiritual environment by placing angels at the gates.
Difference between DOOR, GATES and PORTALS
What is a door?
a door opens to a specific area, allowing access
What is a gate?
an opening permitting passage way, through fare
What is a portal?
an entry point that can go to various different locations.
If we consider the three different passageways of a gate, a door, and a portal, putting it together in a spiritual context, we understand Jesus is the Door, He is the one that gives us the ultimate access. If we bypass this door, we engage in the demonic realm. Once we go through Jesus, that is the door, He gives us the authority to be gateways, from being gateways we engage portals into different dimensions and Realms.
As gateways, portals are our passage ways to fulfil kingdom mandates
When you place an angel at the gate, name the angel. Naming releases functions and mandates. So I would for instance pray that the angels responsible for my destiny to stand guard at the gate of the morning, to release and facilitate whatever it is I need to engage with today. I call him angel of Destiny.
Let’s take another example :
I would activate angels at the gates of our church, to facilitate the movement of the spirit. Sometimes I feel specifically to release the angels responsible for miracles to be positioned at the gate to facilitate and support what YHVH will be doing. Use the tools the Father has made available to you to structure the spiritual atmosphere, releasing from the supernatural into the natural. That is what mature sons are capable of.
Consider the following scripture
I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,Genesis 22:17
The Hebrew for the word ‘cities’ actually means GATES. So that scripture more accurately reads ‘the descendants will take possession of the GATES of their enemies’. That is an incredible statement. It once again reiterates the truth that we are gatekeepers, and we dictate the flow in the spirit realm, and the angels are positioned at the gates to help.
