Frequencies of Wisdom – The Four Foundations
Proverbs 8:30 NIV
Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
Proverbs 8:30-31 TPT
I was there, close to the Creator’s side as his master artist. Daily he was filled with delight in me as I playfully rejoiced before him. I laughed and played, so happy with what he had made, while finding my delight in the children of men.
Imagine yourself in a grand library, the air scented with rich oak and ancient parchment. You wander through the endless aisles, your fingertips gently caressing the spines of countless books, each holding stories, wisdom and mysteries untold. Suddenly, your steps slow, and you find yourself drawn to a particular volume, its leather binding weathered by the passage of time. As you open it, the pages crackle like a warm, inviting fireplace, and there you find it, Proverbs 8:30-31, twinkling up at you like sapphires from the dust of creation.
“Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.”
In these two verses, wisdom herself, a living entity, rejoicing in the company of the Creator, finding delight in the manifold miracles of our world, and celebrating the human spirit, the sons of God. But what do these words truly signify? What does it mean to rejoice in the habitable part of His earth, and how does wisdom find her delights among the sons of men?
I’m so grateful for wisdom. Being Yahweh’s first creation, she clearly takes top priority in His eyes and a key catalyst in divine creation. She was His priority, something to note. He brought her forth before creation, so here are keys to meditate from this verse:
1. Divine Companionship: When wisdom proclaims, “Then I was by him, as one brought up with him,” the verse illuminates the idea of divine companionship. It paints a picture of the Creator not in distant isolation, but in close companionship with wisdom and an intimate relationship that bubbles with divine entanglement. This connection underscores the inseparable bond between wisdom and divinity. Relationship keeps coming to the fore and remain a crucial invitation for us to foster our relationship with wisdom, for in doing so, we deepen our connection with the divinity of Yahweh.
2. Joyful Celebration: “And I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him.” Here, the second foundation shows itself as a joyful celebration. Religion waters down, but joy ascends. Joy manifests the ecstasy of wisdom in the presence of Yahweh, radiating a sense of being completely enraptured. It urges you to cultivate a spirit of joy daily, drinking new wine and rejoicing in our encounters with wisdom and being enlightened in the joy of the Lord.
3. Appreciation of Creation: In the words, “Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth,” we uncover a profound appreciation of creation. What you honor will be drawn to you. Wisdom delights in creation. This foundation calls us to marvel at the wonders around us, to engage with it passionately, and to respect and cherish the earth we inhabit. It is not just a stage for our existence, but a testament to divine wisdom, our governance and creativity. Find joy. It’s a treasure chest in the heart of wisdom.
4. Affinity for Humanity: Finally, the phrase “and my delights were with the sons of men” unveils a deep affection for the sons of God, but also humanity. Wisdom is not aloof or elitist; instead, she finds delight in humankind, in their achievements, struggles, and potential. This reminds us that wisdom is not only for mystical experiences but a well of treasures woven into the fabric of everyday human life. It beckons us to recognise wisdom in all that surrounds, in our shared experiences, and in our communal journey towards growth and enlightenment. Lean into wisdom, and she’ll reveal herself in the most unexpected places and situation, inscribing ‘If Yahweh is for you, who can be against you’?’
These four foundations — divine companionship, joyful celebration, appreciation of creation, and affinity for humanity — form the bedrock of Proverbs 8:30-31. They invite the sons of God to relish our relationship with wisdom, to rejoice in our experiences, to marvel at the world we inhabit, and to cherish our shared humanity. More often than not, mystical ecstasy and experiences lie in the most unexpected and mundane, waiting for you to acknowledge the presence and activation of wisdom.
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to the treasures of wisdom in creation. Create in me a heart to rejoice in the joy of wisdom, her creativity in creation and her shared love with you for humanity, for we, are, after all, in your image. I invite wisdom to activate these foundations in my spiritual life to her handiwork and her role to grow my sonship in You. I LUV U.
